Unit 10
[Listen and Write]
Every year, many children are injured or killed in road accidents. Among pedestrians, children between five and nine years old form the biggest number of road-accident victims.
The main reason why road accidents happen to these children is that they forget that roads are dangerous places. They do not stop and pay attention before they step onto the road. They forgot to walk briskly across the road. Sometimes, they run and fall on the road. They also play games along the pavement.
To avoid road accidents, everyone should “Stop, Look and Listen” before they cross the road. They should also use pedestrian crossings or footbridges when they want to cross the road.

[Memorized Dictation]
To avoid road accidents, everyone should remember to use the footbridge and the zebra crossing. Make sure that the road is clear before you cross the road. Do not run across the road or cross between parked vehicles. We should also wear light-colored clothes so that motorists can see us.
