How much of each type of food should you eat every day? You can use the Food Pyramid to help you decide. The Food Pyramid uses serving sizes to help you eat the right amount of different types of food every day. While growing up, you need to eat two servings of body-building foods, fours servings of protective foods and five servings of energy-giving foods.

No one type of food is more important than the other. It is the serving size that makes the difference! So have a variety of food in the right amount every day.

There are different ways of cooking food. Food cooked in hot oil is high in a substance which makes you fat. Fried food is high in cholesterol. Food cooked by hot air is very good. Steamed food is very healthy. Food cooked by the heat from hot charcoal is not good. Barbecued food is unhealthy.

A balanced diet helps you to stay healthy and strong. It includes energy-giving foods, protective foods and body-building foods. The food pyramid shows you how much of each type of food you should eat. Water is also important to your body because you need it to do everything. So, remember to drink plenty of water when you are thirsty.
