My name is Marian Tighe and I have been given the opportunity to teach English at Pui Kiu Primary School. My husband and I come from Australia. We arrived in Hong Kong about 5 weeks ago. We have not been to Hong Kong before. Our parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews remain in Australia but say they will visit us in the future. During my leisure time I like to read, swim, garden and cook. I hope I will learn to use a wok better and become more familiar with Chinese vegetables, herbs and spices. We have enjoyed sightseeing at The Peak, Stanley Market, Kam Tin and Lamma Island and look forward to people telling us about other interesting things to do. I have been teaching for 18 years and love my work. I have taught all the primary school year levels and enjoy the different challenges that educating children can present. In Hong Kong the schools I have worked in are different in some ways from Australian Schools. The thing that is the same however, are the parents and teachers who work to provide the children with a happy school environment where much learning takes place. If you see me at school or waiting for the bus please say hello to me. I will say "ne ho ma" to you. I must practise my Cantonese because it is not very good.
